Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill represent the three points of what is referred to as the "Triangle". As these cities and their surrounding towns continue to grow, so too does northwest portions of Johnston County, which is located immediately southeast of Wake County (home to the city of Raleigh-our state capital).
When traveling southeast on Route 70, Clayton is the first town crossing over from Wake into Johnston County. The town is one the most rapidly growing in the area.
Research Triangle Park is home to international research companies and high-flying high tech industries. The area economy is vibrant and the social and cultural aspects are extensive.
The vast abundance of outstanding educational institutions supply the area leading companies with a continued source of intellectual capital. North Carolina State University in Raleigh,The University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, and Duke University in Durham are three top area institutions of higher learning.
